Q: How do I get the GPS file? A: email me at chad@lonewolfexpeditions.com and ask for it! I'll send it to you a.s.a.p.
Q: What kind of file is it? A: The file is a Garmin .gdb file, but I also have it in .gpx format. You will need a Garmin GPS to use the file unless you convert the file.
Q: I can't open the file! A: First thing would be to download the newest version of Mapsource from Garmins website. Install that file and it should work!
Q: Is there a longer version of the route? A: Yes, there is. Bryan Much (a.k.a. cannonshot ) used the TWT route and his vast knowledge of Michigan to create a MONSTER route called the Wisconsin - Michigan Dual Sport adventure and its a big loop through Wisconsin and the upper and lower peninsulas of Michigan and its 2050 miles long! Check out my links!
Q: How long does the TWT take to ride? A: The 540+ miles from just outside Galena Illinois to Point Detour can be done in 2 days. There is quite a bit to see along this route so its best to take you time and enjoy the route.
Q: Is there a more difficult / easier version? A: This route is just a suggestion, a collection of roads that minimize the amount of pavement. The GPS file is mainly on public roads but it does have some ATV trails. There are also other ATV trails and motorcycle singletrack that run along this route near Black River Falls, Hatfield, Perkinstown , Clam Lake and Bayfield. All of those trails their own rules and regulations and also closures so they are there if you want to ride them, just check current trail information first.
